GG, Cro-Quiltin 5.0 out of 5 stars It was almost like standing in the kitchen with my mother-in-law, teaching me how to cook for her first born son. My beautiful mother-in-law is gone, but the recipes included in this book continued where she left off in my training, cause not one of hers was included but I could almost hear her speaking to me as she cooked. I was so engrossed I actually read every single recipe word-for-word before even beginning to try one. I'm guessing this is Mrs. Goodfood's first book and I am honored to have a copy. Each recipe has a brief explanation of the dish’s origin, and all of the recipes are accompanied by pictures. The directions are extremely easy to follow, so even if you aren’t a master chef you’ll be able to make these dishes. So far, I’ve really enjoyed the Beef and Mushroom Burritos. They’re delicious and quick to prepare. They weren’t as heavy as other burritos, and with the vegetables they’re actually pretty healthy. I also liked the more authentic Mexican recipes, like Totopos which are similar to nachos. There is even a recipe to make your own tortillas. I thought it would be difficult but actually it’s super easy. But you can use store bought tortillas as well. My absolute favorite was the Mole Poblano. I’ve tried other mole sauces before and this one is definitely the best. This is a great cookbook, and I can’t wait to try out more recipes!When I purchased this cookbook, I didn’t know what to expect but Neyda Goodfood makes cooking these dishes easier. I found the ingredients to be simple and the instructions to be straightforward. We even learn a little history behind each dish, which makes it more interesting and more connected to the Hispanic culture. I feel like I’m reading a fascinating story about each dish. The Chicken and Blue Cheese Burritos are my favorite in this book. I think I will try the fabulous looking Mexican Sauce next. I would highly recommend this cookbook to anyone looking to learn how to cook authentic Mexican dishes!I grew up in California and have eaten plenty of Mexican food which I dearly love. Now I have the means to cooking some of my favorite dishes myself!Teaching home made methods. Only wish it was a bit wealthier.This one definitely fits the bill. I thought it would be difficult but actually it’s super easy. But you can use store bought tortillas as well. My absolute favorite was the Mole Poblano. I’ve tried other mole sauces before and this one is definitely the best.
